Engagement Rings

2019 is here and you’ve finally decided to ask your significant other to marry you. Whilst this is an exciting time, choosing the perfect ring can be tough- many cuts, colours and carats available.

It can be overwhelming to know where to begin but don’t worry! We’ve got you covered with our top 5 engagement rings trends 2019 has to offer.

Coloured stones

Whether as the centrepiece or as side stones, coloured stones are becoming increasingly popular among brides looking for that unique engagement ring. Blue sapphires are one of the most popular gemstones- especially after Princess Diana’s engagement ring, followed by , emeralds, yellow diamonds and pink sapphires. Some brides still prefer to have a diamond as the centrepiece but will add pops of colour with a coloured halo around the centre stone.

You could also choose your partner’s birthstone to add an extra touch. Below is a list of each birthstone for each month:

  • January – Garnet
  • February – Amethyst
  • March – Aquamarine
  • April – Diamond
  • May – Emerald
  • June – Pearl or Alexandrite
  • July – Ruby
  • August – Peridot
  • September – Sapphire
  • October – Opal or Tourmaline
  • November – Topaz or Citrine
  • December -Tanzanite, Zircon or Turquoise

Gemstone Engagement Rings

Bypass setting

This style of setting has been around since the Victorian era but has seen an increase in its popularity over the last year.  A bypass setting features a band that overlaps and parts instead of forming one single line, holding the diamond in between both ends.

Bypass engagement rings can hold many different diamonds shapes and gemstones creating a stunning and out-of-the-box piece. You can also sparkle up your ring with some accent stones on the bridge or a pave band.

Pear and Oval Stones

It seems that 2019 is the year of the pear and oval shapes. Thanks to its elongated silhouette, these shapes appear larger than other for their carat weight.

The rise in their popularity may have something to do with Hailey Baldwin’s engagement ring, which features an oval-cut diamond sitting between two gold pave bands, or with Ariana Grande’s ring, which featured a pear-shaped diamond sitting atop a diamond accented band. Paris Hilton, Cardi B and Sophie Turner are also rocking the pear stone!

East-West Settings

This style is perfect for those who are looking for a timeless and elegant solitaire with a twist. An East-West setting holds the diamond in a horizontal way, creating a contemporary piece. This style works for elongated shapes such as oval, marquise, cushion and emerald.

One of the best aspects of an East-West setting is that if your taste changes, you can always adjust it to a different setting.
