Our post about Biggest Celebrity Engagement Rings was so well-received that we thought a second part was a must. Even though these rings aren’t as enormous as the ones in the previous blog, we assure you they won’t disappoint you. From the iconic engagement ring that belonged to Princess Diana to Sofia Vergara’s 7-carat one - we have made a list of the celebrities biggest engagement rings.
Kate Middleton and Princess Diana
When Prince Charles proposed to Lady Diana, he didn´t have a ring. She was given several ring options and ended choosing a 12-carat Ceylon sapphire stone surrounded by diamonds set in white gold, a shocking choice because instead of being a unique piece this ring belonged to a jewellery catalogue, meaning everybody could get it.
During their holiday trip in Kenya, Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton with the only ring he could have chosen: his mothers. Apart from being a stunning ring, it had a sentimental value that no other ring could have had. After many people claiming that a ring from a failed marriage was being repurposed he said: “Obviously, she’s not going to be around to share in any of the fun and excitement of it all, so this is my way of keeping her sort of close to it all.”
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, proposed to Melania on the night of the MET Gala, back in 2004. He chose a 12-carat emerald-cut diamond ring worth $1.5 Million (£1,084,140) that he said got a £1million discount. Later on, the jewellers denied this was true.
If you think a 12-carat ring would be enough, lucky Melania got a 20-carat diamond ring for their 10th year anniversary.
The relationship between Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier III could have been taken out of a movie. They met at the Cannes Film Festival in 1955 when Grace was invited to a photo shoot at Prince’s Palace of Monaco. After a year of writing to each other, Prince Rainier III visited America on an official tour and made a stop in Philadelphia where he saw Grace Kelly and met her family. Three days later, they were engaged.
And of course, her ring was something out of a fairy tale. He chose a trilogy ring with a 10.47-carat emerald-cut centre diamond flanked by two baguettes. Stunning.
Michael Douglas was mesmerised by Catherine Zeta-Jones when he saw her in ‘The Mask of Zorro” that he asked Antonio Banderas to introduce them. Within a few months, Michael proposed to Catherine with a 10-carat marquise-cut diamond engagement ring set in an east-west orientation. This beautiful ring was estimated to be worth $2 Million. (£1,441,160). The couple will be soon celebrating their 18th wedding anniversary.
They met for the first time in 2007 but it wasn’t until 2010 during the filming of Wanderlust that they became friends. After 2 years of dating, Justin Theroux proposed to Jennifer Aniston with an 8-carat emerald-cut diamond ring on her birthday. They married three years later in a super-secret ceremony (so secret, guests didn’t know it was happening) but unfortunately, this year they decided to get a divorce.
Joe Manganiello was already blown away by Sofia Vergara’s beauty when they met at the 2014 White House Correspondents' Dinner in May. Later that year, on Christmas Day, Joe proposed to Sofia with a beautiful 7-carat centre diamond in a halo setting with more pave diamonds on the band. There is no doubt that Joe knew about Sofia’s love for sparkles!
