Famous Engagement Rings

Every proposal is special and every ring has a sentimental value behind but these famous engagement rings are one of a kind. From Queen Elizabeth II to Blake Lively we made a list with the most beautiful, captivating, sparkling and biggest engagement rings. Somebody said diamonds are a girl best friend and according to this list, they were right!

Queen Elizabeth II

Prince Phillip proposed to Princess Elizabeth with a square-cut diamond engagement ring with diamond side stones and had it set in platinum. Although is not the Queen´s biggest jewel this ring has a sentimental and symbolic value: every diamond was taken from a tiara that belonged to Prince Phillip´s mother. Also, he was involved in the whole process of designing this unique piece.

Princess Margaret

Anthony Armstrong-Jones designed Princess Margaret´s engagement ring from the beginning. Inspired by her middle name Rose, he thought about a ruby surrounded by diamonds emulating a rosebud.

Jacqueline Kennedy

A ring as iconic as their marriage, John F. Kennedy proposed to Jacqueline Bouvier with a breath-taking tapered baguette 2.84-carat emerald beside a 2.88-carat diamond with a stunning diamond open-halo ring. Fun fact: the proposal happened in a restaurant in Boston.

Elizabeth Taylor

If someone had an amazing jewellery collection, that was Elizabeth Taylor. She married eight times and even though every ring was stunning, her engagement ring from film and theatre producer Mike Todd was the cherry on top.  He gave Elizabeth a modest 29.4-carat emerald-cut diamond that apparently Taylor called it “her ice skating rink” and is for sure one of the most dazzling diamonds ever.

Princess Diana and Kate Middleton

When Prince Charles proposed to Lady Diana, he didn´t have a ring. She was given several ring options and ended choosing an 18-carat blue sapphire and diamond engagement ring, a shocking choice because instead of being a unique piece this ring belonged to a jewellery catalogue, meaning everybody could get it.

In a very romantic proposal during their holiday trip in Kenya, Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton with the only ring he could have chosen: his mothers. Apart from being a stunning ring, it had a sentimental value that no other ring could have.

Jay Z didn´t leave anything behind when decided to propose to Queen Bey with a magnificent 20-carat emerald cut diamond ring with a split shank that is certainly worthy of a queen. The estimated cost? US$5 million (£3.829.000)

Blake Lively

Ryan Reynolds thought about everything when he was about to propose to actress Blake Lively and the ring wasn’t the exception. He designed a unique 12-carat light pink oval-cut diamond engagement ring that is allegedly valued at US$2 million (£765.700).
